CiviBank joins Energy Efficient Mortgages pilot scheme

CiviBankhas joined theEnergy Efficient Mortgages pilot scheme to test the implementation of energy efficient product lines and processes.

Some 52 lending institutionshave already committed to the scheme.

The Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative aims at delivering a mortgage financing mechanism where borrowers are incentivised to improve the energy efficiency of their properties or to acquire highly energy efficient properties.

This is offering favourable financial conditions linked to the mortgage.

Luca Bertalot,co-ordinator of the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative, said: “We are delighted towelcome CiviBank as a new member of the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative pilot scheme.

“Their participation further strengthens the scheme in Italy and reinforces the link with the expectations of both the territory and its consumers.

“We look forward to the role they will play in supporting the deployment of energy efficient mortgages in the Italian market, where 13 Italian banks are active in the Initiative and the Italian Banking Association has recently established a market led steering committee to ensure policy coordination.”

Marco Mosanghini of CiviBank’s Treasury and Funding, added: “The participation of Civibank in the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative is an important step forward in the implementation of our business strategy geared towards social responsibility and sustainability.

“Civibank’s mission is to serve as a key partner to the households and businesses of the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto regions in order to promote social, economic and cultural growth in the local community and already offers a wide range of ‘green’ products.

“Joining the EEMI pilot scheme is a great opportunity for Civibank to improve the characteristics of our ‘green’ loans and, ultimately, to strengthen the bank’s role in fostering the energy transition in our territory.”
