Meet New Zealand's Top Mortgage Advisers for 2026

Tenth annual ranking recognises New Zealand's highest-settling mortgage advisers

Meet New Zealand's Top Mortgage Advisers for 2026

NZ Adviser has published its 10th annual Top Advisers report, ranking 147 mortgage advisers by residential lending settled between 1 March 2025 and 28 February 2026. The report lands as broker-originated lending approaches 60% of all new home loans in New Zealand.

To qualify for this year's ranking, entrants had to settle a minimum of $50 million in verified residential loans over the qualifying period. Advisers self-nominated with their settlement figures and aggregator contact details, and every submission was verified by the relevant aggregator before being accepted. A record 147 advisers made this year's list, up from 94 in 2025 and 63 in 2024.

Cameron Muggeridge of Loan Market Central topped this year's ranking, settling $440.7 million, up from $254 million in 2025 and $167 million in 2024. Muggeridge credited the growth to his team's focus on clearer communication and a higher standard of client care.

Also among this year's winners are Ryan Smuts of Kris Pedersen Mortgages, who settled $215.2 million in a sharp rebound from $94.4 million the previous year; Brock Shute of The Mortgage Advice Company, one of only nine advisers nationally to settle more than $150 million; Laura te Kaat of The Mortgage Girls, making her first appearance on the list; Brenda Murney of Vega Mortgages, the only featured winner whose settlement value grew every year across the three-year period; and Scott Jackson of Mike Pero Mortgages, the highest-ranked adviser in the South Island.

This year's report also comes as the sector adjusts to the AML/CFT National Strategy, which took effect in July 2026 and moves adviser supervision from the Financial Markets Authority to a single new regulator, the Department of Internal Affairs.
