RedZed appoints Calvin Cordle as new managing director

Experienced leader to drive growth

RedZed appoints Calvin Cordle as new managing director

Non-bank lender RedZed has appointed highly experienced industry leader Calvin Cordle as its new managing director.

Cordle, who will take up the role on Wednesday, August 16, has worked in financial services for more than 20 years. He was most recently general manager of private banking at NAB and he also held senior positions at Barclays Bank in the UK.

RedZed, specialises in residential and commercial loans for self-employed borrowers, and the lender said Cordle was well positioned to lead RedZed into its next stage of growth, given his experience in treasury, product and private equity, and his leadership of teams in property finance and business banking.

Calvin Cordle excited about RedZed role

“This is an exciting time to be joining RedZed and I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations that have been laid over the last 17 years,” Cordle (pictured above) said in a statement RedZed released on Monday.

“RedZed’s ethics and approach to doing business are closely aligned with mine. We are both focussed on positive outcomes for our customers and understand the importance of strong relationships, which RedZed’s broker network and reputation is testament to.

“I also have a lot of respect for RedZed’s unwavering support of self-employed borrowers, especially during this challenging time of sharply rising interest rates.”

Cordle said the business’s growth trajectory to date has been impressive.

“I’m looking forward to further driving that growth and supporting the talented RedZed team and our self-employed customers.”

Evan Dwyer to stay on as executive director

RedZed said its founder and current managing director, Evan Dwyer, would continue to play a pivotal role within the business as executive director. He will explore key strategic opportunities and acquisitions and will remain on the board.

“Over the last five years we have worked really hard to build our team and our platform,” Dwyer said. “We now feel it’s important to invest in growth and set our leadership team in place for RedZed’s next chapter.”

Dwyer said it was essential to RedZed to not only find the right professional to lead the business into the future, but to ensure that its core values “closely aligned with those we uphold at RedZed”.

“Calvin is not only an exceptional finance professional, but a person of great integrity,” he said.

“His wealth and breadth of knowledge will prove invaluable to our staff, aggregator partners, brokers and customers, and his expertise will further strengthen our growing team. The business is in great hands with Calvin at the helm and we are excited to welcome him and his family to RedZed.”

Further RedZed leadership changes

The appointment this month of Cordle as managing director follows a number of other changes to RedZed’s leadership team.

In July, RedZed announced that Loralle Slater, a founding member of the company, had been appointed as the new chief sales and marketing officer, while Paul Dontschuk, formerly the chief transformation officer, had been promoted to the position of chief operating officer.

Slater has been part of RedZed since the business began in 2006, serving as chief operating officer, until Dontschuk took over the role. Dontschuk joined RedZed as chief transformation officer in 2020 and has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services.

Last year, RedZed appointed business development managers Cassandra Vella, Trent Homann and Tamara Rozova, who are based in Sydney.
