AMP Bank unveils new digital banking experience

AMP Bank has unveiled a new digital banking experience aimed at supporting small businesses, solopreneurs and everyday banking customers with advanced security features and banking technology.

The new platform introduces Australia’s first numberless debit cards for small businesses, with the aim of reducing fraud risks.

Customers will also have access to selfie-style video identity verification, 24/7 customer support, and a banking app that integrates personal and business accounts in a seamless experience.

Additional features include virtual sub-accounts to help small businesses manage tax payments, payroll, and expenses, as well as tools for tracking spending.

The bank charges no monthly account keeping or international currency conversion fees.

Sean O’Malley (pictured, below), AMP Bank’s group executive, said: "We are thrilled to launch our brand-new digital bank – purpose designed and built from the ground up to transform the banking experience for Australia’s millions of micro, side hustlers and small business owners, and everyday banking customers.

“We searched the world to source the very best in banking technology to create what we’re confident will be Australia’s premier mobile digital banking experience.

“We’ve loaded the new app with the very latest tech and innovations to provide business owners with the latest in cyber, fraud and scam protection, and the capability to integrate leading small business software solutions.

“Our ambition is to help small business owners – sole traders, side hustlers and other small businesses – seamlessly run and administer their business from the convenience of their mobile phone.”

The bank is powered by Engine by Starling, the UK-based banking technology that has enabled Starling Bank to onboard 4.5 million small business and retail customer accounts since 2017.

The AMP Bank app is available for Apple and Android devices.
