DLCG enhances digital mortgage services with AI partnership

Dominion Lending Centres Inc. (DLCG) has signed a platform licensing agreement with Pinch Financial, an artificial intelligence-driven mortgage qualification platform, marking a key step in its digital expansion strategy.

Pinch Financial operates an AI-based system that allows borrowers to verify financial information and qualify for mortgages entirely online. The platform is widely used in Canada, including by real estate listing giant REALTOR.ca, where borrowers can choose between applying directly with a bank or lender or working with a licensed mortgage broker.

Under the new agreement, DLCG’s mortgage broker network will now be integrated into the Pinch Platform, making its services available to homebuyers using REALTOR.ca.

“The DLC mortgage broker network is delighted to be integrated into the Pinch Platform, and we are excited to work with homebuyers using REALTOR.ca,” Gary Mauris, DLC chairman and chief executive officer, said in a media release.

The deal follows DLCG’s move in December to repurchase all of its non-voting Series 1 Class B preferred shares, a step aimed at simplifying the company’s capital structure. The share buyback plan, approved by shareholders, will see 30.5 million Class A common shares issued along with a $15 million cash payment to consolidate ownership under a single class of shares.

The repurchased shares were primarily held by KayMaur Holdings Ltd., a company linked to DLCG executives Gary Mauris and Chris Kayat, along with other stakeholders.
