The two-decade BMO veteran moves into a new strategic role while staying connected to BrokerEdge
BMO has appointed Paula Oliveira as Head of its SSG and Broker Program Office, marking an elevation for one of the bank's mortgage leaders after more than two decades at the institution.
Oliveira transitions from her role as Regional Vice-President, Ontario & Atlantic Region at BMO BrokerEdge, the bank's dedicated residential mortgage lending channel for the Canadian broker market.
In her new position, she will maintain her ties to BrokerEdge while assuming a broader strategic mandate across BMO's sales support and broker program functions.
"This well-deserved opportunity reflects the exceptional leadership, expertise and commitment she has demonstrated throughout her career at BMO," said Jamie Doolittle, CPA, Head of BMO BrokerEdge, in an announcement posted to LinkedIn.
A career built on broker partnerships
Oliveira has spent more than two decades at BMO, building a track record across retail banking, broker strategy, and talent development.
She played a pivotal role in the launch and establishment of BrokerEdge across Ontario and Atlantic Canada, work that helped define how one of Canada's largest banks entered the mortgage broker channel and laid the groundwork for its national expansion into Western Canada.
Her approach to leadership earned recognition at the industry level. As detailed in Canadian Mortgage Professional's September 2025 feature on how BMO's trailblazers shaped the broker channel, Oliveira described her core philosophy simply: "I approach every role with purpose, seizing opportunities to grow and lead."
She also reflected on the dimension of leadership she values most: "One of the most meaningful achievements of my career has been the opportunity to lead diverse teams and continuously evolve my leadership style through those experiences. Witnessing team members grow in confidence, take on new roles, and achieve their professional goals brings me lasting fulfilment."
Her profile extended beyond the bank. Oliveira was honoured in CMP's Top 50 Women of Influence for 2026, a list that cited her role in building BrokerEdge's residential lending channel from the ground up.
Earlier, she was among the first cohort recognised in CMP's 2024 Women of Influence feature spotlighting BMO BrokerEdge's emerging leaders.
Succession search underway at BrokerEdge
BMO confirmed that the search for Oliveira's successor as Regional Vice-President, Ontario & Atlantic Region is already underway, with a formal job posting to follow shortly.
The vacancy arrives as BrokerEdge continues to scale nationally, expanding its broker partnerships across the country following its 2024 launch.
