Former Ubank COO brought in to scale SME lender’s operations across Australia, New Zealand
Prospa has appointed Angelo Azar (pictured) as its chief operating officer, effective immediately, as the small business lender looks to strengthen its customer operations on both sides of the Tasman.
Azar brings more than 20 years of operational leadership across financial services, insurance and digital banking.
He joins from Ubank, where he was chief operating officer overseeing customer operations, complaints and resolutions, fraud, payments, cards, supply chain and procurement.
Azar previously spent four years as a founding executive and chief operating officer at Honey Insurance, and has also held senior roles at Hollard and Commonwealth Bank.
Reporting to chief executive and co-founder Greg Moshal, Azar will lead Prospa's customer operations teams spanning sales operations, collections, customer support and resolutions.
Moshal said the appointment was an important investment as Prospa scales. "Angelo brings deep customer operations experience, a strong track record of leading teams through growth and a practical approach to using technology and AI to make businesses simpler and more effective.
"Angelo knows how to scale how we operate while keeping our customers and our people at the centre."
Azar said he was looking to build on Prospa's track record with small businesses. "I've followed Prospa for many years and have always admired its focus on small business, its pace and the genuine passion its people bring to helping customers succeed. My first priority is to listen to our people and customers, and find where we can make their experience even simpler as Prospa grows."
