It commits to opening Townsville hub, bringing 120 jobs; partners with North Queensland Cowboys

Suncorp has announced plans to establish a new office hub in Townsville, marking its second major base in Queensland and creating 120 new jobs in the region over the next two years.
The announcement coincided with the insurer unveiling a new two-year partnership with the North Queensland Cowboys.
The Townsville hub, located at 22 Walker Street, will focus on sales and service operations. It will also function as a pop-up disaster management centre during extreme weather events, allowing Suncorp to deploy local staff to support communities impacted by natural disasters.
The new hub forms part of Suncorp’s $25 million jobs and investment commitment to the Queensland government, following the sale of Suncorp Bank.
Speaking at the Cowboys’ Hutchinson Builders Centre, Suncorp chief executive Steve Johnston (pictured above) emphasised the company’s commitment to regional Queensland.
“Suncorp is a proud Queensland organisation, and this announcement reinforces our commitment and investment in our home state,” Johnston said. “North Queensland is vibrant and growing, and we could think of no better partner than the Cowboys to help us support this important region.”
The new office will expand Suncorp’s local workforce to 160 people. Johnston added that the Townsville hub will strengthen the company’s ability to meet customer needs while supporting disaster response efforts.
In addition to the hub, Suncorp has become a major partner of the Cowboys’ NRL and NRLW programs and the presenting partner of the Cowboys Game Participation Program, which engages schools and junior players in regional and rural areas. Suncorp will also support the Cowboys Community Foundation.
“Our partnership with Suncorp represents a clear vision and strong alignment of values,” said Cowboys chief executive Jeff Reibel. “North Queenslanders are known for our toughness and resilience, and Suncorp have always been there, helping when people need it most. We look forward to a successful partnership both on and off the field.”
