SFG welcomes new national compliance director

Specialist Finance Group (SFG) has announced the appointment of Louise Huzyliak as its national compliance director, a newly created role.

“Louise is a well-known super star of the compliance world and we are thrilled to attract someone of Louise’s calibre to SFG to assist and lead the great governance of our business,” said SFG general manager Blake Buchanan.

“We say that good compliance is good business and so we employed the best to help guide us and our broker network through the ever-changing compliance environment.”

Who is Louise Huzyliak?

Huzyliak (pictured above) has more than 20 years of experience in aggregation. She began her career with PLAN Australia and had been a part of the organisation throughout many of its business changes and acquisitions.

Among Huzyliak's most notable professional professional achievements during her career involved rolling out licensing requirements with the introduction of NCCP obligations, including monitoring and supervision, education, responsible lending, and disclosures and more recently best interests duty.

“I’m humbled by such a warm welcoming by both the SFG corporate team and broker network,” said Huzyliak. “The risk and compliance function of SFG plays such a vital role in the growth and sustainability of both our, and our brokers' businesses.”

“Having worked in the industry for many years, I understand the challenges we have all faced with what feels like endless regulatory change, but also appreciate that this has made us stronger and better prepared for the future.”

In her new role as SFG compliance director, Huzyliak will oversee the review, design, and implementation of all SFG governance protocols, projects, and initiatives internally and externally.

She will report to managing director William Lockett as well as the executive team and will also be part of the SFG senior management team.

Huzyliak’s appointment comes as SFG is gearing towards growth in 2024. Recently, the aggregator was added to Bendigo Bank’s new digital lending platform, which allows its brokers to access the bank’s loan products.
