NAB revamps executive leadership team

National Australia Bank (NAB) is reinforcing its commitment to gender diversity by promoting a significant number of women to senior executive positions within the organisation.

Effective from April 29, Rachel Slade (second from right in picture) will take over as group executive business and private banking, progressing from her current role as group executive personal banking.

On the same day, Ana Marinkovic (far right in picture) will step into the position of group executive personal banking, moving from her role as executive business direct and small business within the same team.

Further changes will come into effect on July 1, when Cathryn Carver (second from left in picture) will assume the role of group executive corporate and institutional banking. She replaces David Gall, who will depart on Oct. 1 after a 16-year tenure with the bank, which included a decade on the executive leadership team. Carver is presently the executive client coverage in C&IB.

“These appointments demonstrate our ability to identify and develop talent within the business while broadening diversity and experience,” said NAB group chief executive Andrew Irvine (far left in picture).

“Rachel, Ana and Cath, who will lead NAB’s customer-facing businesses in Australia, are great relationship bankers who inspire their teams to deliver results for customers. They understand the importance of using technology and data to make NAB easier and simpler to bank with.

“This completes the executive leadership team that will take NAB forward and maintain the momentum we have across the business by executing with discipline and focus.”

The restructured executive leadership team, pending regulatory approval, will include Irvine and 10 other executives, namely Slade, Marinkovic, Carver, Sharon Cook, Shaun Dooley, Nathan Goonan, Dan Huggins, Les Matheson, Sarah White, and Patrick Wright.
