Funds supported Starlight Children's Foundation, Farm Angels and local causes covering housing, financial literacy and vulnerable communities
Mortgage Choice's national broker network has donated $418,843 to 67 charities across Australia in the 2026 financial year, continuing a run of annual contributions that has now passed $1.5 million since 2022.
The funds were raised through the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation (MCCF), which channels voluntary broker contributions – $5 for every home loan settled over $100,000 – alongside a $150,000 annual donation from parent company REA Group.
Of this year's total, more than $100,750 went to the MCCF's national charity partner, the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Brokers back vulnerable communities
Mortgage Choice chief executive Anthony Waldron (pictured) said the foundation reflects a long-standing culture within the national brokerage. "Being community champions is something that is baked into the DNA of the Mortgage Choice network. Since we launched the foundation, we've donated over $1.5 million to charities in every corner of the country," he said.
The partnership has a direct impact on hospitalised children. "Starlight is proud of our partnership with the Mortgage Choice Charity Foundation to bring joy and happiness to seriously ill children and their families. Their support has enabled 2,568 children to experience the fun, connection and positive distraction of our Starlight Express Rooms during their hospital stay," Starlight chief executive Louise Baxter said.
Brokers volunteer beyond dollars
Beyond financial contributions, brokers volunteered time with local causes, including a Beyond Blue fundraising walk in Perth; a Habitat for Humanity home-renovation program in Sydney; and supply-packing efforts with the Avalon Centre and Big Group Hug in Melbourne.
MCCF National Committee chairperson Donna Campbell said the network's collective effort amplified individual giving. "Through the charity foundation, our broker network can make a much bigger difference than any one of us could alone. We're all incredibly proud of the impact our donations and volunteering have had for people supported by local charities," she said.
The MCCF has named Farm Angels as its FY27 national charity partner, a charity supporting Australian farmers across more than 1,300 regional communities. The shift reflects the Mortgage Choice's intent to extend support into rural Australia.
Starlight will remain a supported cause at the state level, and the foundation will continue funding franchisee-nominated local charities nationally.
