As the founder and chairman of Walker Corporation, he revolutionised the property development industry, leaving an indelible mark on skylines and urban landscapes across the country. His bold vision and relentless drive led to the creation of iconic landmarks that have become an integral part of Australia's architectural heritage.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lang Walker was known for his philanthropy, demonstrating a deep commitment to giving back to the community. His contributions to various charitable causes have touched countless lives, making a lasting difference in Australian society.

 

Tributes from the industry

Daniel Hunter, Business NSW CEO, and David Borger, Business Western Sydney executive director, issued a joint statement expressing profound sadness over the passing of a titan in the Australian business realm.

“The legacy of Lang Walker will endure for generations to come, serving as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs and business leaders alike,” Hunter and Borger said. “His remarkable achievements and enduring legacy serve as a testament to the power of vision, determination, and hard work.”

The Property Council of Australia also paid tribute to Walker.

Property Council CEO Mike Zorbas highlighted Walker’s contribution to the sector and Australian life, noting his role as a champion of the property industry and a contributor to cities and communities nationwide.

“Lang Walker was a great son of Sydney,” Zorbas said. He “lived and breathed property for more than five decades. During that time, he housed and employed tens of thousands of Australians while investing in and shaping our cities for the better.”

In 2017, Walker was honoured with induction into the Australian Property Hall of Fame, acknowledging his groundbreaking achievements in the property sector and the generosity of his broader philanthropic contributions.

“On behalf of the Property Council of Australia, I extend our deep condolences to Lang's family, friends, and his Walker Corporation team,” Zorbas said.
