NZHL supports growth agenda with new appointment

NZHL (New Zealand Home Loans) has announced the appointment of Michael Beattie (pictured above) as group general manager strategy to support its growth agenda.

The Auckland-based Beattie will join NZHL’s leadership team on Nov. 6 and be responsible for driving NZHL forward to meet the home loan and insurance advisor network’s ambitious growth aspirations. He brings with him more than two decades of experience in the finance sector.

Beattie is currently head of strategy at Westpac. He also runs his own strategic advice business. Prior to his role at Westpac, he had a short stint as head of strategy at TSB New Zealand. He also worked for more than seven years at AMP New Zealand, from August 2014 to April 2018.

NZHL CEO Kip Hanna said Beattie’s extensive industry background and experience as a pragmatic, hands-on strategist won him the role.

Beattie “has the skill set and passion to push NZHL forward,” Hanna said. “His alignment with NZHL’s proposition is crucial given we are a purpose-driven organisation.”

He said Beattie’s appointment comes at a time when homeowners are actively seeking personalised advice amid the ongoing economic uncertainty.

“Our purpose is to help Kiwis become financially free and independent and to support them to make better financial decisions alongside sensible insurance protection,” Hanna said. “Choosing a home loan is the most difficult and important financial decision many Kiwis will ever make. Our strategic goal is to reach more Kiwis – and ultimately partner with them on their journey to financial freedom.”

“I’ve always been curious about how companies can help people achieve their financial goals, whatever they might be, and to help create intergenerational wealth,” Beattie said. “That’s been a key reason why I wanted to join NZHL and be part of a future where we can help even more Kiwis achieve their financial freedom, faster.”
