Hope brings experience from BusinessNZ, Westpac, and the NZ Bankers' Association
The Financial Services Council (FSC) has welcomed Kirk Hope (pictured) as its new chief executive officer.
Hope brings extensive policy and advocacy experience to the role, having served as CEO of BusinessNZ for the past nine years. He aims to enhance the financial wellbeing and confidence of New Zealanders through this new position.
A focus on collaboration
Hope expressed enthusiasm about engaging with FSC members and the financial services sector.
“I look forward to collaborating closely with the sector, regulators, and government to accelerate momentum on strategic and policy initiatives that will benefit New Zealanders for generations to come,” he said.
Hope’s leadership begins just after the FSC24 Conference, where key sector priorities were highlighted. His background includes leadership roles at BusinessNZ, the New Zealand Bankers’ Association, and Westpac.
“The FSC membership is highly engaged, and I will be connecting with them to make meaningful progress on the key priorities that matter most,” he said.
Strong credentials for a strategic role
Hope holds a master’s degree in law, specialising in financial services regulation, and an honours degree in political science.
Recently, FSC, in partnership with INFINZ, launched the "Empower & Elevate: Women in Finance" series to promote inclusive leadership, while a new FSC report showed 94% of New Zealanders are worried about their finances.
