Questbank appoints Bekim Merdita as head of sales and marketing

Veteran lender joins Questbank to build broker trust from coast to coast

Questbank appoints Bekim Merdita as head of sales and marketing

Questbank has appointed Bekim Merdita as head of sales and marketing. The hire places a broker-channel veteran at the front of the alternative lender's national expansion.

Merdita is a founding team member of Edison Financial, which later became Rocket Mortgage Canada. He spent more than a decade building broker-facing operations across the US and Canadian markets. Most recently, he spent a year within Questrade Financial Group (QFG) developing the strategy and operational foundation for Questrade Mortgage Corporation.

"The biggest thing we at Questbank need to accomplish right now is earning the trust of brokers everywhere," Merdita said. "With the recent entrance of our mortgage products into Quebec, we're truly a nationwide bank and our product shelf supports a wide array of consumers."

What Questbank's new sales leadership means for brokers

In his new role, Merdita will lead Questbank's go-to-market strategy, covering regional expansion, sales performance, and fulfillment. His brief is to align marketing with broker support – the aim being faster decisions and clearer communication on every file.

Questbank works exclusively with mortgage brokers as an alternative lender, channelling originations through its subsidiary Community Trust Company. Community Trust has served the Canadian broker channel for more than 50 years. Questbank received its Schedule I licence from the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) in late 2025.

Under Merdita, the sales team will focus on business development managers acting as hands-on broker partners. Proactive outreach and file-level support are the practical priorities he has outlined.

Merdita's background in scaling broker-facing operations

At Edison Financial – rebranded as Rocket Mortgage Canada – Merdita helped grow the company from an eight-person startup to a team of more than 150. He served as executive vice president until Rocket Mortgage Canada wound up its Canadian operations in mid-2025.

Merdita’s approach has remained consistent across roles: technology and data serve operations, but broker relationships and frontline support determine outcomes.

"We're going to build in the light with our partners along for the entire ride," Merdita said. "There will be a day soon when we can all look at what Questbank is and say 'we all played a part in building it.'"

How Questbank's national expansion opens doors for brokers

The appointment coincides with Questbank entering the Quebec mortgage market, extending its reach as a coast-to-coast lender. Merdita flagged that expansion as central to his immediate brief.

Questbank's Schedule I bank status gives it direct control over funding and origination. Combined with Community Trust's 50-year history of flexible lending, brokers gain access to a broader product shelf under a single regulated institution.

"By working with valued partners, the opportunity for a positive impact on the people and communities we serve is enormous," Merdita said. "I'm excited to lead that."
