Mallory Hendry of Canadian Mortgage Professional sat down with Christine Day, chief information officer at Community Trust, to discuss how the new app fits with its strategy of making it easy and enjoyable for brokers to do business with them.

Community Trust has a vision that it always aims to achieve, and will involve the broad adoption of better technology to streamline processes, improve communication, provide brokers with transparency — and ultimately deliver the fastest, easiest, and best overall mortgage experience to clients.

Christine Day, chief information officer at Community Trust, said the Community Trust Café mobile app, which launched on November 18, 2021, is the most recent step on the path to achieving that vision. Available on both Google Play and Apple App Stores, the app provides the same functionality as the previously released desktop Café. Nearly all existing features available on the desktop version are also available on the app, including deal summaries, status updates, broker communications and reference materials. Community Trust also added notifications as part of the mobile app experience so that brokers can easily receive updates on active deals. Overall, “for those engaging with us on a mobile device, the Community Trust Café mobile app is faster, more responsive and offers a better user experience” said Day.

“Our app is designed to help our broker partners interact with Community Trust from anywhere, facilitating communication and information exchange anytime, anywhere,” Day said, adding feedback had been extremely positive.

“We have engaged our broker partners in every step of the creation of the Café, directly eliciting input and incorporating it into the design and roadmap,” she added. “This is how we ensure that we deliver the right solutions to meet our brokers’ needs.”

And there are more changes on the horizon. For example, Community Trust is working on bringing the document management feature that is already available on the desktop version to the mobile app as well. “This will achieve parity between both platforms, after which all new features will come to both experiences simultaneously,” Day said.

Brokers have already noticed the incredible transformation taking place at Community Trust, and Day said they can expect to experience “continuous iterative improvement in our speed, our service and our tools,” because it all goes back to the vision Community Trust has for its place in the industry.

“The mobile app is one component of a much broader strategy to enable our broker partners with best-in-class tools, real-time data exchange, and communications,” said Day. “We want to make it easy and enjoyable for brokers to do business with us.”
