WeWork Celebrates Launch of WeWork Hudson’s Bay

Last night, WeWork celebrated the official launch of WeWork Hudson’s Bay, its largest building to date in Canada.

The newest WeWork is located inside the home of one of Canada’s oldest and most iconic brands, Hudson’s Bay, in the center of the city. WeWork partnered with Hudson’s Bay Company through a unique management agreement to combine workspace with retail, attracting a new wave of users into the historic building. WeWork’s innovative workspace is directly visible into the adjacent upper retail floors occupied by Hudson’s Bay, bridging these two communities together.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the launch of WeWork Hudson’s Bay on Queen Street, which has welcomed over 1,600 members into our community to date. Through our partnership with Hudson’s Bay Company, we’ve reimagined an iconic landmark in the heart of Toronto, reinforcing our long-term commitment to making lasting economic and cultural impact on the city,” said Stephen Tapp, general manager, Canada, WeWork.

WeWork Hudson’s Bay resides on a heritage property in downtown Toronto, located at the corner of Queen and Bay Streets and spanning half of an entire city block. The WeWork space partially occupies the 6th and 7th floors, and in addition to dedicated workspace, the spatial floor plan allows for the incorporation of distinct amenities and innovative workspace environments.

These unique amenities include: The Hub, a central greeting and gathering spot that offers a unique arrival experience for members and guests who enter the building; The Cafe, a food and beverage space stocked with local vendors and integrated with stacked bleachers that can cater to larger events; The Town Hall, a large, flexible event space that overlooks Toronto City Hall and is designed to bring the outside community together for events—everything from more formal presentations to casual meet-and-greets serving private, public and non-profit sectors; and The Library, a quiet area with bookshelves and soft seating that aims to provide members with a workspace solution that allows them to focus or relax in a more intimate setting, while having visibility into the adjacent retail floors occupied by Hudson’s Bay.

WeWork Hudson’s Bay officially opened its doors in November 2019, where they’ve welcomed members across industries including logistics, software, education, hospitality, law, wellness and more.

WeWork opened its first Toronto building in August 2017 at 240 Richmond St, where it has since grown its footprint to 10 buildings throughout the city.
