Event to focus on innovation in Canadian financial sector technologies

Canada FinTech Forum comes to Montreal later this month

This year’s Canada FinTech Forum will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from October 29 to 31.

The event’s theme will be “Open Innovation in Financial Services,” to be discussed by more than 70 speakers and encouraged via the FinTech Start-up Pitch Contest.

Featuring nearly 120 entrants from around the world, the competition will reward 10 successful finalists – which will provide the most innovative financial services solutions – with $230,000 in prizes.

“The Canada FinTech Forum’s rapid expansion reflects the general public’s and industry professionals’ growing interest in financial technology. It’s a clear signal that technology’s critical role in transforming financial services is being recognized,” Finance Montréal vice president for fintech development and corporate affairs Matthieu Cardinal said.

A main feature will be a conference with Janet Yellen, former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, on the evening of the first day of the Forum.

“The Canada FinTech Forum is an essential event in the financial technology sector. In addition to its conferences and activities, it provides the ideal setting for start-ups and investors to network and do business,” 2018 Canada FinTech Forum honorary president Paul Desmarais III stated.

Finance Montréal – in collaboration with the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship – will also provide attendees the chance to participate in a masterclass seminar on AI in financial services during the Forum.

“With its renowned speakers, varied content and technological innovations, the Canada FinTech Forum is making our ecosystem more dynamic, helping it connect with international markets and raising the profile of sector talent,” Finance Montréal CEO Louis Lévesque said.
