Peckford shifts to coaching as Woodhouse takes the operational helm at BRX

BRX Mortgage taps Dustan Woodhouse to lead next growth phase

BRX Mortgage has named Dustan Woodhouse as president, pairing one of Canada's most credentialled mortgage executives with a fast-growing Edmonton brokerage that has expanded more than 13-fold in three years.

Woodhouse, who served as president of Mortgage Architects from 2019 to 2024, will take responsibility for BRX's day-to-day operations and growth strategy effective September 1.

Founder and chief executive Scott Peckford will remain in the CEO role but redirect his focus to one-on-one coaching, agent training, and tools development for the BRX Pro programme.

"I realized I could make a much bigger impact on our team if I invested my time in coaching our agents and creating the apps, workshops, and training models that help them build better businesses," Peckford said in a Facebook post.

From 441 households to 6,019 in three years

The hire comes at a turning point for a brokerage that has grown faster than its original structure was designed to support. Peckford founded BRX Mortgage in Edmonton, Alberta, in 2021 as a dedicated agent-success platform offering residential mortgage brokerage services alongside proprietary coaching tools, workshops, and structured training programmes.

In its first full year of operations, BRX agents served 441 Canadian households. According to Peckford, that figure reached 6,019 in 2024, a rise of more than 1,200% in three years.

The pace of growth pulled Peckford increasingly into operations and away from coaching. He described the shift in thinking as moving from asking how to improve at running a company to asking who had already done it well.

Peckford said Woodhouse conducted a comprehensive review of BRX's operations, systems, financial results, and agent experience before accepting the role.

Career forged in origination, leadership, and five books

Woodhouse's background is unusual in its span across both production and corporate leadership. Before transitioning into executive roles, he ranked among Canada's top-20 mortgage brokers on three separate occasions over five years, closing 1,695 mortgages.

He is also the author of five books for mortgage professionals, including the widely circulated Be The Better Broker series, volumes drawn directly from his origination experience that have become standard reading in the broker community.

His five-year stint as president of Mortgage Architects gave him direct exposure to the operational weight of running a national network, a credential that made him a natural fit for BRX's current stage of growth.

"I am in fact far more enthusiastic about all things BRX than the headshot would suggest. This is going to be a wild ride for sure!!!," Woodhouse said publicly in response to the announcement.
