Australian bank opens applications for 2024 scholarship program

Teachers Mutual Bank (TMB) recently announced the opening of applications for its 2024 Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship.

The scholarship allows successful applicants to attend a leadership program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Nichole Banks, chief marketing officer at TMB, said that the scholarship gives an opportunity for principals to further develop professionally.

“The Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship has been instrumental in driving positive change, not only for recipients, but for entire school communities by providing principals with the opportunity to nurture their own growth and further their leadership capabilities,” Banks said.

The Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education’s program will provide principals with knowledge, leadership strategies, and a global network of professionals that will help them implement approaches that are applicable to the varying environments of their respective schools.

TMB asserted that there is a powerful impact that comes with investing in the future of education.

“The Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship is a testament to our ongoing commitment to giving back to the education community and building capacity in the Australian public education sector,” said Banks.

Melissa Proctor, the recipient of the scholarship in 2017 and the principal of Greenacre Public School, expressed how important it was to share what she learned from the program with her colleagues.

“What I have learnt is, that the better I am, the better my school is,” said Proctor.

“As part of the Primary Principal Council, I network very closely with other principals and aspiring leaders, so it was really great to be able to come back and share my learnings from the Principals Scholarship with them,” she continued.

The Teachers Mutual Bank Principals Scholarship was established a decade ago in partnership with the Public Education Foundation, a non-for-profit organization focused on giving scholarships to youth in public education.

Daniel Rattigan, the principal of the Finigan School of Distance Education, was the 2023 recipient of the scholarship.

Applications for the 2024 scholarship will only be accepted until October 31, 2023.
