RBA set to unveil latest research at COSBOA summit

Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) assistant governor Brad Jones (pictured left) is set to deliver new research findings on the contribution small businesses make to the innovation economy at the National Small Business Summit of the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA).

Jones, who joined the RBA in 2018 and currently oversees financial stability and the payments system, will provide key insights for small business leaders aiming to grasp the economic and financial landscape that underpins future innovation.

Those interested in attending the event, to be held from April 3-4 at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, can register online.

The summit will also feature a political panel session titled “Beyond the Major Parties: The Role of Independent MPs in Shaping Policy in Canberra.” Luke Achterstraat (pictured right), chief executive of COSBOA, will host a discussion with members of the so-called Teal independents.

The panel, which includes MPs Dai Le, Zali Steggall, Allegra Spender, and Kylea Tink, will explore the significant shifts in Australian politics, focusing on the implications for small businesses and policy development.

Another highlight of the summit is the session on digitisation for small businesses, which aims to shed light on the transformative impact of digital technologies, covering critical areas such as technological integration, operational efficiency, and market adaptability. The session will delve into the strategies and tools vital for the successful digitisation of small businesses, addressing both the challenges and opportunities presented.

Speakers include Amanda Hutton of Telstra Business, Ryan Black from the Tech Council, John Shepherd from the Australian Government’s Department of Finance, Rita Arrigo at CSIRO’s National AI Centre, and Matthew Prouse of Digital Service Providers ANZ.
