Do you need a branch network?

Branches seem to be fading in importance – but do they help your business?

Do you need a branch network?
Whether because of brokers, or the internet, bank branches are meant to be dead. Yet they’re still very much alive: the majors alone have at least 700 each across Australia. But do branches still matter, and are they a help – or hindrance – to your business? That’s the question we’re asking in this year’s Brokers on Banks survey.

As core banking moves online, banks have been trying to reinvent branches as lending hubs, some with the objective of helping brokers, others looking to take market share away from brokers. Anecdotally, branch staff have been at the root of channel conflict incidents, yet one bank now dedicates one staff member to helping brokers. Or, as documents and signing moves online, are branches simply irrelevant to you and your customers?

Now in its 14th year, our Brokers on Banks survey is asking how branches affect your business, whilst asking you to pick out the banks that have impressed and disappointed you over the past year. It takes less than five minutes, and you could win a pair of Bose QuietComfort® 25 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones (RRP $399).

Are banks with extensive branch networks a help or hindrance to your business? Have your say now.
