Slowdown 'should catalyse broker appraisals'

As the competition between lenders and packagers intensifies as a result of the market turbulence, SLS has highlighted the importance of growing market share in any way possible.

Furthermore, the firm has said that brokers should be keener than ever to retain existing clients and win referrals for new ones.

One of the most effective ways of doing this is to make sure that the service offered by advisers' business partners is the best available in the market.

One way this can be determined by looking at lenders' range of services and commissions by comparison with the rest of the market.

“When business is flooding in through the doors, the priority is to process it quickly. Now that the market has slowed down, the priority must be to maintain and grow market share by improving the service on offer to clients,” said David Burrows, SLS' managing director.

“By working with partners who can deliver the best products, services and commissions available, brokers can improve life for themselves and their clients, and put themselves on the best possible footing for the future.”
