Secured loans take centre stage at Expo

The Seminar Theatre, in association with the Association of Finance Brokers (AFB) will be the focal point of the Secured Lending zone, sponsored by Brilliant Loans.

The seminar sessions will be chaired by AFB Director Robert Sinclair and the programme, which runs for the full two days of London Expo, covers the following areas:

  • The Future Landscape for the secured loans industry with presentations by Jeanette Harwood, Head of Regulatory Services at Walker Morris Solicitors, and Simon Stern of Prestige Finance.
  • Technology with a focus on its uses to aid effective decision making and offer broker support. Presentations will be from Steve Walker of Promise Finance, Andy Moody of LoanOptions.co.uk and Bill Safran of Trigold on Day One. The same topic will be covered by Julie Oliver of Promise Finance and Stephen Atkins of Freedom Finance.
  • Building a secured loan business. Paul Guy of Brilliant Loans and David Burrows of Secured Loan Services tackle this topic on Day One with Paul replaced by Gerry Lafferty of Access Broker Services on Day Two.
Daniel Nwaokolo, Mortgage Business Expo London show director, commented: “The level of interest in the secured loan market continues to grow and these sessions are aimed not just at those advisers already involved in this sector but also those who are looking to enter.

“The AFB seminar programme will offer vital information providing guidance to any potential new entrants to the sector and those experienced advisers who are looking to continue building their secured loan businesses. Mortgage Business Expo London caters for all secured loan advisers’ needs under the Earl’s Court 2 roof and delegates are invited to join us for a richly informative two days.”

Robert Sinclair, director of the AFB, said: "In these difficult times for lenders and brokers, secured loans are still a strong part of the overall mortgage offering. More and more brokers are considering a secured loan as a credible alternative to a mortgage or a further advance. As the trade body representing the interests of secured loan brokers this puts us at the heart of the industry.

“Following the success of the inaugural event in Manchester, we have put together an enhanced team to present at the Secured Loans Seminar Theatre in London, with something for everyone.

"Existing brokers will learn a lot from the sessions on the changing regulation of secured loans and the impact of technology. Those looking to expand their options by offering secured loans will also benefit from the technology session and the building your business presentations.”
