At 65,346, the number of those submitting forms online is more than double the amount in December 2006 when just 35,753 did so.
Solicitors and conveyancers have said the main benefit of online filing is that it makes "registration clear and easy," ultimately speeding up the process for all involved.
HMRC head of stamp taxes for online services, Sally Mills, said: "This increase in the numbers of people filing online for SDLT certificates shows that we are moving in the right direction. We are very pleased at their high take-up of online filing."
