MBE Belfast takes off

Taking place on Tuesday 30 January at the Belfast Odyssey Arena, the conference programme has been produced in association with the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) and the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML).

It will provide delegates with a wealth of information on the Northern Ireland market and the opportunities available to them.

The conference line-up includes:

  • Perspectives on the housing market in Northern Ireland, chaired by Matt Smith, CML policy advisor on Northern Ireland. Speakers are Joe Frey, Northern Ireland housing executive; Alan Bridle, head of research, business banking UK, Bank of Ireland; Professor Gray and Chris Paris, University of Ulster.
  • FSA Update, chaired by Chris Cummings, director-general of AMI. The speaker is Dominic Clark, manager, small firms at the FSA.
  • Diversification in the current climate – the role of the Debt Solution firm and Individual Voluntary Arrangement Services. Speaker to be confirmed.
  • Current opportunities for the intermediary in the equity release market, chaired by Chris Cummings, director-general of AMI. Speakers are Stuart Wilson, director, Equity Advice and a senior representative from the Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA).
  • Cross-border market developments. Speakers are Professor Chris Paris, University of Ulster and a senior representative from GE Money Home Lending.
  • Commercial finance – advantages for the intermediary, chaired by Adam Tyler, National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB). Speakers are Stephen Johnson, Commercial First and Mark Flower, MD of BusinessFinanceQuote.com.
All the major lenders and product providers will be exhibiting, and both the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) will be in attendance to give advice and support. Entry to the show is free.
