Long joins from banking group Close Brothers, where he was MI systems manager with the responsibility for business intelligence and data strategy.
Long has delivered large scale business intelligence programmes in a career spanning 15 years, while before that he worked as a marine engineer for the Royal Navy.
He said: “I am excited by Leeds Building Society’s 10-year strategy, and feel that an improved data capability will support its execution.
“BI technologies can help with how data is translated and shared for analysis, and I am looking forward to helping the Society make better use of data in its decision making.”
At Leeds Long will be tasked with establishing a business intelligence competency centre, a cross-functional team which will define tasks, responsibilities and processes to support and promote the effective use of business intelligence across the society.
