Assurant and Kevin Paterson were unavailable to comment.
Paterson has had an extensive and somewhat glittering career in financial services dating back more than 30 years to 1983.
After four years in the Royal Marines - which included a tour of the Falkland Islands – he joined Crown Life as a financial adviser.
Some 11 years later he moved to Lincoln Financial as a regional manager then in 1998 joined Flower Independent – part of the Romans Group – as managing director.
He was in the job for three years and one month before moving on to the position of sales director for the Park Row Group.
Like so many others in the mortgage market Paterson was blind to what lay ahead and in July 2007, after more than six years at Park Row, he joined mortgage packager and distributor Enterprise Group.
It was a position that was to be short lived with the run on Northern Rock coming shortly after.
A year later he picked up consultancy work with the Sesame executive board before landing the post of sales and marketing director at Assurant Solutions Intermediary.
With 30 years experience under his belt – he celebrated his 50th in October last year – Paterson’s seen the intermediary market in all its shapes and sizes, both as a broker and now as a provider.
One source said: “Wherever Kevin ends up next it’s more than likely he’ll make a success of it. He’s done very well. To complete over 30 years service in the financial services industry – especially given events over the last five years – is testament to his character.”
