Consumers alerted to corrupt broker

Gordon Benville, trading as Kingsfield and based in offices at 6 Broad Suite, Deal, Kent, CT14 6ER has been stopped by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) from arranging mortgages or conducting any regulated activity with immediate effect.

Benville is now the subject of a police investigation following allegations that he asked customers to sign incomplete mortgage applications, allowing him to complete the application to the lender for a higher amount than required.

It is also alleged that he told customers about the error and asked them to write a cheque to return the balance to the lender - but these cheques were never passed on. Any customer in this position may be liable to repay a significantly larger loan than they received.

Customers who arranged a mortgage, remortgaged or organised a home purchase plan through Gordon Benville, trading as Kingsfield, should contact Martin Bradbeer of Kent police on 01622 654 365 or Chris Walmsley or Richard Monks at the FSA on 020 7066 5894.

Concerned individuals can find further details on the FSA wesbite.
