Amicus parent Omni Equity invests in Brightstar

Omni Equity Partners is a private investment vehicle operated by Omni Partners, a London-based alternatives investment manager founded by Steven Clark in 2004. As well as a second office in Irvine, California, United States, Omni owns lender Amicus Finance Plc and also owns a stake in Brookland Partners LLP, an independent real estate investment banking firm.

As part of the deal an Omni Partners member will join Brightstar’s leadership team as a non-executive director.

Rob Jupp, chief executive of Brightstar, said: “As a trailblazing business it’s crucial that we partner with the right pedigree of investor and we are genuinely delighted to have Omni Equity Partners working with us.

“We know they will help our business achieve even greater heights and keep Brightstar at the cutting edge of the UK specialist lending market.”

Brightstar started trading in January 2011 with Jupp, Bradley Moore and Kit Thompson at the helm, while after four and a half years they have grown to a team of 40 with £1bn of debt under management.

An Omni Partners spokesperson said: “As a global business we continue to identify niche investment opportunities supporting businesses recognized as leaders in their fields.

“Our investment in Brightstar adds to similar, recent investments we have made across fast moving, entrepreneurial businesses in growing sectors.

“The UK specialist market has got real momentum and Brightstar is well positioned in a range of growth markets.

“We have been impressed with the quality of Brightstar’s intermediary relationships and we look forward to working with Rob and his management team to help shape future opportunities supporting the next phase of company growth.”
