Canada Life launches Long Term Care workshops

Canada Life Home Finance has launched a series of workshops for experienced financial advisers wanting to complete its Long Term Care insurance exams.

The workshops, which are free of charge to attend, will run nationwide throughout May 2019. Each workshop includes three distance-learning modules and a day-long training course with Canada Life at one of six UK locations.

Alice Watson (pictured), head of marketing and communications at Canada Life Home Finance, said: “At Canada Life we are committed to supporting advisers of all levels of experience in the later life lending market.

“With later life social care policy still unclear, there has been increased interest from advisers in learning how to best serve the needs of customers concerned about this issue. We are pleased to meet this demand with theLong Term Care Exam workshops.

“These sessionswill enable more experienced equity release advisers to provide clients with holistic and tailored advice, ensuring people are able to receive the care they may need later in life.

“Given the growth in home finance options being used to cover care costs, we expect consumers’ increasing comfort with viewing their wealth holistically to swell demand for later life products.

“These workshops will help ensure advisers are able to offer their clients the best advice in a rapidly changing market.”

The training sessions are provided in collaboration with training and consulting firm Fortica, and are designed to help advisers pass the CII CF8 exam so they have a more holistic approach to later life lending.

Those attending will gain a thorough understanding of what Long Term Care is and the products involved, the assessment process and the best way to engage external support agencies.

Advisers should note that the CII CF8 exam on its own does not meet the Financial Conduct Authority’s requirements for advice in Long Term Care.

Canada Life’s Long Term Care Exam workshops are designed to help advisers prepare for the Long Term Care Insurance Exam – a standalone qualification to help experienced advisers enhance their advice process.
