Hershman on the best way to reach realtors

Ask the Expert

What is the best way to reach Realtors® today? When I visit offices, no one is around. Should I send emails or mail to them? —Carl from Philadelphia

I have never been a big fan of cold calling offices, even before the trend of working out of the home became prevalent. You should contact and meet real estate agents through networking. While emailing and mailing Realtors® are important, here are a few points....

  • Whether you mail or email is not as important as getting the right information into their hands. I am not big on rate sheets, but more interested in valuable information --which is why I prefer educational pieces and current news. Emailing is easier, and you can mail to those who opt out of emails. That is why we provide both in the OriginationPro Marketing System.

  • Today, more and more are reaching their networks and expanding them through social media. Thus, whatever you mail or email should also be easy to post on social media. Again, the more valuable the better. If individuals with your network like what they see, they will share with others.

  • Sending information or posting does not replace the need to call and meet with agents. Automated CRM systems are designed to give you the time to call, not eliminate calling.

  • Want to spend quality time with a Realtor®? Help them hold a house open on the weekend or attend an educational program for agents with them. Another topic for another day. —Dave
