AIME hosts first national conference

Lighting the FUSE for independent mortgage brokers nationwide

AIME hosts first national conference

The Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) has had a busy year, holding two regional events in Denver, CO and Irvine, CA, and rounding out the year with its inaugural FUSE national conference in Las Vegas this October.

President of AIME, Marc Summers, said that they’re expecting more than 1,000 attendees at FUSE, which is important given that AIME’s goal is to forge national connections and reach out to as many independent mortgage brokers as possible. Brokers—i.e., mortgage experts—have every right to be fired up about the event.

“We’re going to be releasing some information, our speakers are top notch, everything about it, we’re trying to go to the extreme,” Summers said.

FUSE has a jam-packed, content-heavy agenda. It begins with a pre-conference presentation by Barry Habib, Founder and CEO of MBS Highway, and a kick-off cocktail reception of the AIME Women's Affinity Group on Friday, October 19th. On Saturday, October 20th, the agenda includes sessions on beating competition, engaging technology, the growth of homeownership in underserved communities, and a presentation by United Wholesale Mortgage president and CEO Mat Ishbia.

It can be difficult to come up with truly unique conference agendas, but Summers said it really wasn’t all that difficult since both he and Anthony Casa, AIME founder and chairman, are currently working as mortgage brokers. They thought about the things they want and the things that would make a difference in their respective businesses, as well as the things that would benefit all originators.

“We’re not dictators in this; we’ve asked our members what they’re looking for,” Summers said. “We’re not making it lender-specific. We want them to come in with something tangible, not a product, but something tangible where our members can go ‘wow, I got something from this segment, I got something from that segment.’ It’s going to be fast-paced, and the agenda itself just looks phenomenal. I’m extremely excited about it.”

Perhaps the most exciting revelation, however, will be the “game-changing technology product” that Summers said will “revolutionize the way mortgage brokers do business.” That announcement is coming first thing on Saturday morning, presumably to give everyone a buzz and set the tone for the day ahead.

AIME obviously wants to both retain its current membership as well as growing by gaining new members and more market share, building on the success of FUSE to look ahead and plan even more events for 2019. AIME’s expansion points to a clear need for an association dedicated to empowering independent mortgage experts with products, tools, knowledge and community support. It’s very fulfilling, Summers said, and he hopes independent mortgage experts across the country will take time out of their busy schedules to connect with others at FUSE.

“I’m really excited to meet more people. It’s just great because everybody who comes to these events, they all have their own little spin on the business, and it’s amazing.”

AIME Fuse 2018 takes place on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
