Global real estate firm RE/MAX has received recognition for its franchise model by ascending to the top 5 in the Franchise 500; last year it was at number 10.

The Denver-based firm launched its first real estate office in 1973 and now has a global network of more than 115,000 sales associates in more than 100 countries and territories.

The top 5 Franchise 500 ranking is based on factors including costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength and financial strength and stability. Eligible firms must be based in the US or Canada.

"Nobody in the world sells more real estate than RE/MAX as measured by residential transaction sides," said Adam Contos, Co-CEO of RE/MAX.

Contos says there are several reasons why real estate agents chose to be part of the network.

"Broker/owners and agents want to be affiliated with the number one name in real estate because of our brand awareness, continued education, on-demand training, competitive advantages and technology," he says.

RE/MAX joins some other high-profile names in the top 5: McDonalds, 7-11, Dunkin’ Donuts, and The UPS Store.
Other real estate firms in the top 500 include Keller Williams Realty, HomeVesters of America, Weichert Real Estate Affiliates, Realty One Group at, Realty Executives, and United Real Estate.
