Rare listing for Kodak founder’s former vacation home

A California estate that was the vacation home of multi-millionaire entrepreneur George Eastman, founder of Kodak, has received a rare listing.

The 14-acre estate in Carmel Highlands comprises a 6,000 sq. ft. main house with 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, a wine cellar, and separate maid’s quarters. There are three individually-unique guest houses, swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis court.

The location gives superb views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Lucia Mountains and the estate is just 2 miles from the beach and a 15-minute drive to the nearest airport.

The property has been restored by the current owners over the past 10 years and has a price tag of $16,950,000.

While it could be a main or vacation residence for a wealthy owner, there are other possibilities for the estate. It has previously been used as a behavioural studies institute by Stanford University and has special zoning to allow for bed and breakfast use, or other such creative endeavours.

The listing is with Tim Allen Properties and is the first time it has been for sale in almost 30 years.

"A magical place, your own private world just mere minutes from the beaches of Carmel, world-class golf in Pebble Beach, and a picturesque drive down the coast to Big Sur,” said Mr Allen.
