The price of a new home in Texas has fallen making the market slightly more affordable for homebuyers.

The latest report on the state’s housing market from HomesUSA.com shows that the average new home sales price in October was $362,164, down more than $1000 from September.

In Houston, the average was $362,006; in Dallas-Fort Worth it was $383,112; in Austin $378,444; and in San Antonio $291,320.

All four major markets also saw sales of new homes rise with the rolling 12-month average of home sales in these markets up from 3,226 in September to 3,249 in October.

"As we head into the winter, we have yet to see the seasonal impact on new home sales, but we may be seeing some signs of Hurricane Harvey's impact in Houston," said Ben Caballero, owner of HomesUSA.com. "For builders and buyers, it looks like a merry holiday season. New home sales are continuing at a record pace, and buyers are benefiting from new home prices that are a little lower.”
