More than a million injured vets may be eligible for VA mortgages – but the vast majority aren’t taking advantage of the benefit

Most of them are living on the streets because they don't have jobs. Don't you read the signs? Go to Colorado Springs, you'll see, it's no joke.

I am active duty, in for 21 years. I want to plan for retirement (not for another 5 years or so). However, I was denied for VA mortgage because the home I wanted to purchase I would not be living in within 90 days and I'm not 1 year from retirement. I can not make future plans with a VA mortgage. Instead we obtained a mortgage for our home as a vacation home with 15% down and we do not plan to rent it out, just want a home to go home to when the time arises and start paying for it now.
