Contradictory rules have made mortgage lending a "minefield" for bankers, threatening the housing recovery, it has been claimed.

Any sustained legitimate "housing recovery" is not likely to be accomplished until there is a return of low risk "common sense" stated income or no ratio mortgages. High end homes need to realize the benefit of refinancing and "jumbo mortgages" for credit worthy asset rich but "taxable income deficient buyers" will be needed to reduce the backlog of luxury home foreclosures and to restore the construction of more than tract homes.
