Wells Fargo tops list of commercial/multifamily originators for 2015

In a new report by the Mortgage Bankers Association, the big bank topped the list for total originations last year

Wells Fargo was the nation’s largest commercial and multifamily lender in 2015, according to new data released by the Mortgage Bankers Association.

The MBA released its annual report on commercial and multifamily origination volumes Monday. The report gathered data on origination volumes in more than 140 categories, including by role, investor group, property type and financing structure type, according to the MBA.

The top five lenders in 2015 were Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Key Bank and Capital One Financial Group, according to the report. Wells Fargo topped the list in total origination volume.

Meanwhile, real estate investment firm Eastil Secured was the top originator for commercial mortgage-backed securities, followed by Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan Chase.

Chase topped the list for commercial bank loans, followed by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and PNC Real Estate. Wells Fargo, Walker & Dunlop and Berkadia were the top Fannie Mae originators.
