Want the best customers? Head for Minnesota

A new survey shows where the metro areas with the best and worst average savings and credit scores

Wondering where the best customers in the country are? Well, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is that WalletHub has actually figured it out for you. The bad news is that if you don’t like snow, you might not like No. 1.

WalletHub recently compiled a list of the best and worst metro areas in the country when it comes to budgeting, credit score, debt and savings.  Topping the list was the Fargo, N.D.-Minn., metro area, with the best credit and savings average in the country. Sioux Falls, S.D. and Boston, Mass., also made the list of towns where consumers had good credit.

The worst budgeters on the list hail from Jackson, Miss. And – perhaps unsurprisingly – Las Vegas is also near the bottom of the list.

Best metro areas for savings and credit:
  • Fargo, ND-MN
  • Sioux Falls, SD
  • Rochester, MN
  • Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI
  • Boston-Cambridge-Newston, MA-NH
Worst metro areas for savings and credit:
