Branch Opportunity of the Week: Integrity Mortgage Group -- marketing and underwriting

by Ryan Smith22 Jul 2014
The first challenge any mortgage originator has to face is simply finding business. After all, if you can’t get customers in the door, the rest of your talents don’t matter much. That’s why Integrity Mortgage Group is there to support its loan originators in every step of the marketing process.

“We have a marketing department that provides marketing support free of charge for loan officers. We help them maintain their social media, any printed media, as well as trying to place their internet presence to make it really strong in their market area.”

But getting customers in the door won’t do any good if you can’t get loans done. That’s why Integrity employs a crack underwriting staff.

“We have dedicated underwriting and processing,” Wolfe says. “All of our underwriters have 20 years’ or more experience, so there’s not a lot they haven’t seen.”

Integrity’s underwriters do more than just underwrite loans; they also help loan officers understand compliance.

“Our goal has been to have a higher-than-average underwriter-to-loan officer ratio so our underwriters have time to answer the phone and emails, and really be a resource to the sales staff,” he says. “We also maintain an underwriter hotline, where the phone is actually answered by an underwriter, to help (sellers) try to structure a loan so it will close.”

Wolfe says understanding compliance is important not only for the loan officer, but for the borrower as well.

“We try to make sure that our loan officers are meeting with borrowers so everyone really understands compliance. We have a lot of compliance training so everyone understands not only what they have to do, but why they have to do it.”
