Phoenix-area home sales rose modestly in September compared with August but fell on a year-over-year basis for the fifth month in a row, to the lowest level for a September in three years. The median sale price held steady month-to-month but dipped below the year-ago level for the third consecutive month as foreclosures accounted for over half of the resale market, a real estate information service reported.
