Carson will accept HUD appointment – report

Ben Carson will accept a position as secretary of HUD in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, according to reports

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson will accept an appointment as secretary of Housing and Urban Development, HousingWire is reporting.

Citing sources close to the appointment, HousingWire reported today that Carson will accept the appointment as HUD secretary in the administration of President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump announced in a tweet last Tuesday that he was “seriously considering” offering the job to Carson, who ran against the president-elect in the primaries but became one of his most prolific surrogates in the general election.

Carson had previously said he had no interest in serving in Trump’s cabinet, citing his own lack of government experience. After news broke that he was in the running for HUD secretary, however, Carson told Fox news that he was reconsidering his position – although, according to the New York Times, he has no housing policy experience.

The decision is expected to be announced officially today or tomorrow, according to HousingWire.
