SunTrust has agreed to pay $968 million in penalties and consumer relief to settle allegations of shoddy mortgage practices

    So the Justice Department collects a penalty of $418 million and Suntrust puts $500 million into future customer relief programs (who knows what that really means) but the borrowers on whose behalf this lawsuit was filed end up with an average of $833 as compensation for losing their home. I think the way this lawsuit was settled stinks.
