Could easier lending standards help home sales?

I don't think it is the tight standards but rather the publics perception if those standards. I work in a mortgage lending office and we find that we can get most people approved. The problem is people aren't stepping up to buy because they are afraid. We need to do a better job of educating the public.

Providing all the required documents also gets prospective borrowers a little testy. I got a mortgage approved recently but disliked sharing all the details and having the mortgage officers and their staff go through and track every single financial transaction very uneasy. The FICO reports are not always current which elevates the problem.
